School Philosophy
Regina Coeli School, Beverly Hills, is a Catholic Primary School established to serve the children and parents of the Parish. This school aims to establish a community whose goals are the transmission of values for living and quality education. The school exists in a Catholic environment in which the children have the opportunity to grow as individuals in a community where all are valued, welcomed and the love of learning is cultivated.

Brief History of the School
Regina Coeli School opened in 1947 with an enrolment of 39 pupils in Grades K to Grade 2. The school was staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph - Sister Alicia Sheridan being the first Principal.
In July 2001 Stage 1 of a two stage School renovation was completed. During this time eight classrooms were extended and refurbished and an Administrative block was built. Stage 2 of the building program began in March 2002. Six new classrooms , a library, special purpose rooms, children's toilets and canteen were constructed by the end of 2002.

Religious Dimension
Fr. Paul Hilder is the Parish Priest and has administered the parish since October 1996. Father takes an active interest in the school and assists staff in the spiritual development of the children.
Pastor, catechists and teachers form a team for Sacramental programs. Children are prepared in class programs for Reconciliation (Yr 2), Eucharist (Yr 3) and for Confirmation (Yr 6). Parents are encouraged to support the programs at home. Parish programs for Eucharist and Confirmation have been developed.
Classes attend regular Masses and Reconciliation. Class prayer and a sacred space are priorities in each class.
Religious Education has been a focus for staff development in recent years. Currently, all class teachers are responsible for RE in their classrooms. All teachers are accredited to teach Religious Education.

Students
Current enrolment is 404 students, from Kindergarten to Year 6. The children come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. Approximately 62% of the students are ESL learners, with a variety of nationalities being represented at the school. There is an active Student Council in operation. Programs for students with learning needs and for students who are gifted are offered.

School Community
There is a high degree of parental interest, support and practical involvement at Regina Coeli. Parents assist in classrooms, library, personal development programs, sport, excursions and clothing pool. Parents are members of Enrolment AND Finance and School committees. The Parents and Friends Association organises social and fundraising events and is a forum for parents. In 2005 Grade Parents are assisting with school and class events. Programs such as LAP and Seasons operate in the school and bring together students and members of the local community.

Curriculum
Regina Coeli offers a curriculum which is child centred, relevant and allows each child to develop fully to his/her potential. We endeavour to establish a safe, trusting, respectful and happy learning environment.
Each teacher presents a comprehensive teaching program which caters for children's needs and interests. The class programs reflect the school's scope and sequence overviews which are regularly reviewed and updated. Special needs programs operate within classes and through withdrawal when necessary. During the past two years significant attention has been given to Assessment, Literacy & Numeracy, Gifted & Talented education.

School Review & Development & Educational Audit
The Strategic plan has been developed with the Annual plan established each year.
In term 4 2001 the School Review & Development process began with a review of school life. Consultation with parent, parish and student communities took place. Data was analysed and some draft goals formulated. The new Strategic plan was formulated during 2002 once the Educational Audit had taken place and recommendations analysed.
Recommendations included:
- Continuing up-to-date and relevant teaching & learning through use of new syllabus documents
- Further development of a meaningful partnership with parents
- Continuing the process of reflection, dialogue, clarification, planning & evaluation in curriculum
- Ongoing spiritual and professional development of staff
- Gifted education will be a focus in 2004/2005

Enrolment
Enrolment for Kindergarten students takes place in May each year (for the following year).
Enrolments for other classes takes place throughout the year as necessary.
